Cervical Smear Tests

We encourage women to have smear tests done at our surgery. They can be carried out by either a practice nurse or a doctor. Please inform the receptionist when you are making your appointment that you will be having a smear test.

We follow the local policy of recommending a repeat smear every three years, (five years for patients over 50) UNLESS the cytologist recommends repeating the smear more often or if you have had a hysterectomy.

You will receive an invitation by computer-typed letter. However, you need not wait for the invitation before making your appointment.
